Perfect Pulled Pork

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

I made this recipe for a Superbowl party.  It was super yummy, relatively cheap, and very easy!  It serves 16-20 people so it is perfect for parties!

5 pounds boneless pork butt shoulder (I couldn’t find this, so I used a 7 pound bone-in pork shoulder.)

1.5 tsp smoked paprika

2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp cayenne pepper

1 tsp dried thyme

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup water

soft sandwich buns

Combine all seasonings and rub evenly over roast.  Place meat in a 6 quart slow cooker.  Add water.  Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 4-5 hours or until pork is very tender.  Place pork on large cutting board or platter and let rest for 10-15 mins.  Pull, slice, or chop to serve.  Serve in buns with BBQ sauce.  (I mixed in some BBQ sauce after I pulled the pork.)

Our friends have started the adoption process!!  We are so very excited for them!  They are currently trying to raise funds and one of the ways that they are doing that is through a stationary shop on etsy called Happynings.  Christy is a graphic designer and has made some beautiful invites and thank you note cards for baby and wedding showers! Please visit her etsy shop if you have any stationary needs and help them as they pursue adoption!

Here is an example of a CUTE baby shower invitation from Happynings!
